Scrabble and King of Puddings

Brittany and I played scrabble while a pudding was baking for supper.........
I was winning!
Tried Jamie Oliver's King of Pudding recipe from his Happy Days with the Naked Chef.
This recipe has raspberry jam in it, which we all love , it has meringue which we all love , it is a custard, which we all love so what could go wrong?
Here it is going in the oven;where it is to bake for 1 hour or until set.
Here it is coming out of oven after the meringue has baked;

Yuck!
Did it taste good , yes, tho the girls did not go back for seconds.
"It was watery," said Brianne, and Brittany said,"unattractive looking"...took over 2 hours to cook til set.The meringue flattened.
What did I do wrong?
Here is the recipe;
4 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
3/4 cup and 2 TBSP. white sugar
4 TBSP. raspberry jam
Oven set at 300. Separate 3 eggs, Put the yolks and the remaining whole egg in bowl , beat together. Add milk, bread crumbs and 1/4 cup sugar.Put jam in bottom of a pie dish, spread evenly. Pour custardy egg mixture over jam. Bake for 1 hour til set.Whisk remaining 3 egg whites til stiff, slowly add remaining sugar, pile on top of custard and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until lightly browned.
The only changes I made which might have made this a failure was adding 1/2 cup frozen raspberries to custard ... cooked it in wrong size pan, used 2% milk not whole.
Has anyone else tried this recipe and succeeded?

The frozen raspberries might have been the culprit. Frozen things tend to leak water when they thaw. Changing the size of the pan might also affect the consistency, if it made the custard part thicker it might not have set like it should have. Changing the fat content of the milk might have had a texture difference, but I suspect the first two are your main problems. The only thing I can think of for the meringue flattening is that there was some extra water that got introduced while you were whipping the egg whites? Not sure, I have made meringue once maybe. :) Sorry that your effort didn't pay off.

I'll go the more mystical route. LOL I was making bread from scratch, and since i really suck at it, I had to borrow everyone's cooking mojo in order to complete the job. The bread actually worked!
Sorry about your dessert.
