Thanksgiving weekend spent Sunday at a rural Ontario fair.... Rockton World Fair. This small village hosts 100,000 people over the run of the fair.
This rural fair has been in existance since 1852.In the beginning it was called Beverly Agricultural Society,
There were 181 members and prize money paid to the exhibitor's was $194.50. Compare this to today's volunteer membership of 500 and prize money of $80, 000 paid to over 1200 exhibitors.
The local newspaper in 1878 entitled an article of " The Rockton World's Fair, the name has stuck ever since......This small fair brings urban and rural together highlighting agriculture and education of agriculture..

This old fashioned fair was so much fun from the midway to the grandstand shows.....

I'll bet you didn't walk away from this fair disappointed!! Oh what fun! By your photos, I can feel the excitement in the air, along with the sounds and smells of a fair.
