In the Garden May 22nd

In the garden this week   clematis is the star.......
Elsa Spath  with its lovely periwinkle colour.........

only  4 feet high

Tho I love this  plant it  is still only 4 feet tall  , healthy  looking but just doesn't  get the height I would like.. it has been planted for   3 years

Pink Lincoln Star  has now grown up from  a scraggly   single stem to   clambering up both sides of the  iron arbour and stretching over top.  My plan was  for Lincoln Star and Elsa Spath   to combine at the top of the arbour...... best laid plans of a gardener.

My Fringe tree is  just starting to flower.....

See that blue sky, very dry here,  need rain even though I mulched plants are still looking very sad........

Will soon be doing a rain dance !

What a gorgeous color on the clematis!! We have a dark purple one, but I would love to put others in. I am stopping by from Bloomin Tuesday. Have a great week!

What a lovely amazing color! Your clematis are all beautiful! We've been waiting for rain but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe tonight.

Hi Rosemary,

I would love to send you some of the rain we have been having. Your clematis are gorgeous! I have the Elsa Spath too. The flowers are so large. I've never heard of a Fringe tree. I'll have to research it. The flowers are lovely.

I'll gladly join you in that rain dance. My rain barrels are empty and rain has been in the forecast - where is it?
I love the lavender colour of Elsa Spath; wonder why the height is stunted? My Raymond Evison book says 8.5 - 10 feet.

Elsa Spath is a gorgeous shade of lavender, wonder why the growth is stunted? My Raymond Evison book says it should grow 8.5 - 10 feet tall. Maybe she's a shy grower? :-)

Rosemary, your Clematis is gorgeous. The color is wonderful. We have one off our study. I hope to see one blooms.

Hi Rosemary, I think that your Elsa Spathis especially pretty. Maybe it is the picture, but the flowers look huge! I don't like the centers on some clematis flowers, but this one is nice.
The weather has been super dry and today it is supposed to be record hot. I watered yesterday, which is unheard off for me in May. I think we are going to have a really hot, dry summer. Have a great weekend!

Love those fringe trees. We have Elsa Spath also, just two years old. My friend Carol has one (the reason I bought one), hers has reached 6 foot. Maybe yours is just waiting to take off. They are a lovely color.
Liking your shade garden, hope you get some rain soon.
