Rather like getting ready for all the wrapping of Christmas presents.... I still wrap boxes, not bag everything.....
There is not a lot of plants to burlap but last winter a very big bunny ate my Chinese azalea almost to the ground from 4 feet.. nary a bloom last spring........ so this is a priority this fall. No more feeding hungry bunnies...

Lastly a viburnum needs a bit of protection. I did not do it last winter and because of that not a flower to be seen, frosted off........ me and the flowers...
Also leaving the dogwood tree to the elements this year.. . So hoping I won't regret next spring leaving the maple and dogwood to the harsh winds of winter.

Good for you, Rosemary, out there burlapping away. I wish I could get the energy to do this. I guess I don't know where I'd stop if I started, though. There's so many trees that could use the protection. I do wrap the ornamental dwarf crabapple tree trunks with aluminum window screen to a height of at least 3' to stop the rabbits from stripping the bark. We had that happen one year and it was devastating, lost six trees down in the formal garden that had taken us years to grow from little to big.
Does the burlap stop the rabbits from chewing? Around here we have Super Rabbits who seem to be able to chew through even the bark wrap paper, so that's why I have to use the window screen. They can't chew thru that!

I leave everything to the elements.
