What is happening in the garden this week? With the extreme heat August flowers are making an appearance.
Sunflowers just starting,
Purple Buddleia,note how brown the grass is in the background, so dry here!
Black eyed Susan,
Lincoln Star Clematis instead of the usual soft pink with rose striping it is this washed out white with pale pink stripe, thinking it is because of the bright sun is making the colour fade badly.
Last fall fellow blogger and gardenere
Shady sent me some seeds , I planted them and followed her suggestion re using my version of cloches ( Shady uses milk jugs, I used plastic containers) in November last year ....
Here is the Blackberry lily baby,
Goldstrum Rudbeckia,
the other plants coming could be Joe Pye Weed, Monarda or Purple Cornflower not able to identify it yet.....
So excited to see these babies coming along.....

Your August bloomers are very pretty, nothing says summer like Black-eyed Susans & Sunflowers. Congrats on your new seedlings. :)
The sunflowers are going to be beautiful! Thankfully, they love the heat, though I hope you get the needed rain before too long! It's always fun to plant seeds, isn't it? Such an amazing process. ~~Rhonda
Rosemary, you're just keeping up with your garden in this extreme heat too, aren't you? I can't imagine what these temps would be like if we hadn't gotten any rain. I'm hoping you'll see some soon, nice gentle rain that is, not the rough stuff.
All of your flowers are looking so beautiful despite the temps. We'll get through this and then soon it will be fall and then it will be w........ah, never mind, you know what comes next. Sometimes it's a wonder we try to garden at all, isn't it?
How exciting to see the new seedlings emerge. Ah, black-eyed Susans and sunflowers - can fall be far behind? I think we will all welcome the cooler days.

Hi Rosemary, My garden is parched. And this heat is sucking the energy out of me. Time for a few days away! Your bloomers are looking great. So wish I had remembered to plant some sunflowers!

Beautiful blooms! Glad to see your "babies" are doing well in the heat. I have brown, dried-out grass in the backgrounds of my pics as well ;o)
