Green Thumb Sunday/Retirement

My last full day of work on Thursday the staff had me wearing a large button, tiara and lei.Queen for the day.
On Friday was a retirement tea in the ICU team room , which was transformed into a lovely setting, on the table besides an abundance of food;
wraps, pavlova, punch , cake, tarts, cheeses , fruit and more ,there were 2 lovely floral arrangements, gerbera daisy, mums, ornamental thistle,and lilies.
So many people dropped by, it was overwhelming , including the gentleman who hired me 22 years ago, friends from other departments.the doctors ,the fellows, nurses dropped by, received so many hugs . I was gifted with lots of presents from a bottle of wine ,to a lottery ticket,a jar of homemade black currant jam (my fav) etc,to a lovely diamond and white gold necklace signifying past, present and future.
It was very moving and of course tears flowed with the kind things said.
It was with mixed feelings I walked out of the hospital after a total of nearly 30 years, happy ,sad , apprehensive for the future.
Arriving home I found a lovely floral arrangement from my boss and her immediate staff. What a nice welcome to this new phase of life.
Roses , sunflowers and astromeria in the bouquet.

So what have I done on my first days of retirement, stayed up late watching movies , Fracture and The Brave One ( both good) and yes I have slept in ( if you call 7 /7:30 sleeping in ) after getting up most of the time at 5:30.. 2 days,
now I am itching to get our new home in order and get into the gardens, once I have made them.
Retirement???????????

Congratulations on your retirement! You'll love it. I think the key is to do something till you're tired of it, and then find a new passion. No reason to stick to one thing. I retired 5 years ago (was a workaholic for 36 years) and I've enjoyed every minute of these 5 years--except for summers in AZ!

Hi Rosemary,
That last comment was from me, Aiyana. I was on a wrong Google account when I wrote it. Same sentiments though!
