Bah to the critics. Karaoke they claim it is, I say Nothin but a good time!
This musical was funny, over the top, tongue in cheek fun and if you are over 35 you will probably love it.
Lots of laughs throughout the movie.
It did not stick to the stage plays storyline exactly.... a bit more mushy, some bits even cheesy.
Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand , sing REO's I Can't Fight this Feeling, Anymore; just hilarious.
Made me laugh out loud as well as everyone in the theater..
Every actor gave their all.. from Diego Boneta ( young hunky lead who sings beautifully ) to Paul Giamatto to Tom Cruise..
Strong performances...Catherine Zeta Jones and Julianne Hough , Catherine dances but what Julianne does on a stripper pole . Wow!
Julianne is not a strong songstress but
Mary J. Bilge made up for that bit of weakness.
I wasn't sure I would buy Tom Cruise in this role but he made me a believer....who knew he could sing?
He showed very clearly the isolation, craziness and paranoia brought on by extreme fame .
This movie isn't going to win any Oscars. It is exuberant and silly with
an enjoyable nod to the 80's and those flashy rock stars.
Good way to spend a couple of hours......
Kudos to Adam Shankman !
