August

Here it is the 3rd of September .  School starts next week... Feels like summer is over..
August has flown by. It was a very  warm month    but finally  got enough rain to turn everything green again..
How did I spend my time?  Worked on Christmas tags What you say? Will save that for another post.
Went to  a Sunday Brunch at a local garden center Heeman's.  There were  7 booths of  London restaurants there featuring strawberries which Heeman's are  renown for.
round tables  in main greenhouse  nicely decorated with  geraniums.
 Tried several of the items.
traditional  waffle with strawberries, mascarpone cheese and candied rosemary from Garlics. Good

My favourite  was ,

Warm caramelized shallot tart  brushed with citrus infused Monforte sheep's cheese  finished with macerated strawberries  a cedar crème fraiche  burnt  Soiled Reputation honey and aged balsamic  and black pepper caviar..

For a beverage from Only on King   a White Balsamic  strawberry fennel shrub., went with  strawberry bacon jam on egg toast.

Finished up trying  Grassroots  cornbread  with apple and sage sausage with spicy ketchup.

Was a  great venue and if  Heeman's holds this event again will  so go. It was the first  time  they tried this.

Off then to Appleland's  pre season  tent sale , apples are just starting here. Will go back once apples are in full swing.

To finish up August my travels   a leisurely  drive  to Kincardine to   have a peek at Lake Huron   and  visit  The Saltbox Shoppe looking for a ladder.

Strolled along the  Lions boardwalk   .

 Saltbox   shoppe   has rusty things......

Steampunk
Note the  birdhouse made from  an old honey pail......

I was lucky to find an artisan fair in the park besides the  playhouse.
Beautiful park but no purchases.

Quick stop at  a  yummy cheese shop. Who knew  they would have Chocolate  cheese....

So did I get my ladder? I did .. Nope not a regular ladder  an old wooden one, inspired by one my daughter Rosanne has in her living room . Wanted it  to hold all the  special quilts my Mother had made over the years and gifted me...
Like  the homey feeling.  Just can't bring myself to use them..

What a great way to spend your Sunday. Right now I'm getting hungry and want go exploring. Summer has been way too hot here with weeks going by and getting little done in the yard. Your Mom's special quilts are stunning and so many, you have treasures that will last a life time.

All of the food looked delicious! The rusty garden decor always attracts me, too. Love the idea of a ladder to display your quilts, I can never bring myself to use them either. :-)

Wow, that's a lot of stuff. The food looks delicious!!! I love strawberries and anything caramelized. Love that pipe lamp. And you got your ladder, very cool. It looks great with the quilts. I hope my kids cherish my knitted items someday as much as you care for your mom's quilts.
