Now Alliums are showing colour....
Allium gigantium |
Brunnera Jack Frost is forming a clump of heart-shaped silver leaves, delicately veined with mint green.
Love the sprays of bright blue Forget-me-not flowers ,says spring to me.
Pulmonaria crepe paper like blue and pink flowers. So delicate in looks but a very tough plant....
old fashioned name , sailors and ladies |
Another early spring job , planting pots up.
Hint ; line pots with coffee filters.. works so well all the dirt stays in the pot.... I enjoy making up my own pots rather than buy them predone.
Yes I wait a little longer for that lush look but like the satisfaction of seeing the pot fill out. This pot is sitting on the patio table in a shady spot.....
Pot is planted with rose pink impatien, lobelia sky blue , snow crystals alyssum... and trailing regatta lobelia.. have to have that sweet scent of alyssum in the air on warm summer days.
Spicy scent on a warm day fills the patio area |
This shrub fills the bill planted right beside the patio.
Viburnum Burkwoodi ,has a very heady spice fragrance . All season interest with its shiny leaves thru the summer and red berries in the fall..
These are the highlights in my garden this week.
What is shining in your garden?

Great idea with the coffee filters! I'd like to share that tip with my readers!
Love alliums!
I put used dryer sheets in the bottom of my containers...used coffee filters would also work for those plants that want a little acid/caffeine boost.
The front lawn of my duplex (which belongs to my neighbors) is littered with forget-me-nots. I love it.
I've also got Primrose, Pulmonaria, creeping Phlox and the last of my tulips blooming.
I feel so bad because I didn't paint any of my pots. Yours looks so pretty and shiny. I like to do my own pots too. I like the old fashioned name on the Pulmonaria - sailors and ladies.
Very pretty, we have some plumeria and forget-me-nots too.
You have the same pulmonaria that I do, but I like your old fashioned name for it better!
Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday! Lovely spring photos. Jean
Thanks for the coffee filter trick. I have heard of putting a sponge in the bottom of a pot to hold moisture in.
Made me smile at the Momma sticking to the nest regardless of your photo taking..Good Momma
Our alliums are just beginning to show some color also. We have some species tulips still hanging in there and our yellow allysum is blooming. The bluets are also. That's about it. Still waiting on the poppies, lupines and iris.
Hi Rosemary, Your alliums are slightly ahead of mine which are still pretty tight balls. The garden is pretty green at the moment, but it is so lush after the recent rains I am not complaining. I must remember to try the coffee filter idea. Have a great weekend!
