Because of the sandy soil in this area ; there are many asparagus farms .
The weather has been unusually mild and dry in this area of SW Ontario but to have local fresh asparagus in April has to be a record. Weeks early.
May is the month for these bright green spears with the season lasting for about 40 days.
What a nice spring treat for dinner last night.

Mr. Shady came home with asparagus last night, too. I may just have to cook it for dinner! :-) Yum!
