Container Design Workshop

Starting the first phase of my Christmas decorating , I took a course last night to learn how design a Christmas container for outdoors. It was held at Norfolk Gardens Garden Centre.
I took my own container filled with fresh potting soil.
We used a variety of greens.
Feathery white pine, B.C. cedar, Fir, red twig dogwood , seeded eucalyptus and a bow.
Last night only did one planter, filling first with white pine.

Started by placing in the centre 3 tall pieces of pine then around the edge of the pot draping over the sides more pine , filling in the middle with more pine .
Filling in empty spots with cedar boughs using the underside as it is more interesting then the fir was interspersed again using the underside facing up , accented with the red twig dogwood and surrounding the bow with the seeded eucalyptus. The red twig dogwood can be placed around the arrangement or clustered in the centre which is the look I like.

This morning had enough greenery to complete my second container.

Here they are at the front with my coordinating front door wreath
The scent of the fresh greenery while working with it filled the air .I had enough of the small bits and pieces left over to do a small indoor arrangement . Even tho this little arrangement
won't last till Christmas it certainly makes my home smell Christmasy right now.
Feeling rather festive right now!
