Green Thumb Sunday

Orchid
The ICU was given a lovely orchid plant by a grateful family.
In the pot are 2 different orchids one a large pure white with a touch of yellow and the other smaller with pink rosy colour on white.
The poor thing was starting to suffer due to the poor light and over watering of some eager staff.
It was decided I should take it home and save it as my fellow workers know how much
I love gardening. It is such a beautiful plant I just could not turn down the offer.

I did not have the heart to tell the nurses I have one other orchid that I haven't killed but since its original flowering I have not been able to get it to re flower tho the foliage is bright green and very healthy looking.
I think I will have to do some research into the type and care of this beauty.

How sweet of the family to leave this for you. Nurses are a blessing. My Mother was a nurse as well as my sister.

Can't help you with any growing tips; I've never grown one!

Have a great weekend!

Your Orchid is lovely. I have a few orchids myself .. one that I'm hoping will rebloom soon however its just putting out more and more air roots .. it kind of looks like a spider now! Quite unusual as it is so if it doesn't bloom soon I'm still happy with how it looks. LOL

I hope you can figure out how to get your other orchid to bloom!

Good luck with your orchid. I tried growing one once but killed it when I repotted it. I've been meaning to study up on them too.

You must have a special touch to get orchids to grow and thrive. I no longer buy them as the extremely low humidity here just does them in every time.

Your orchid is beautiful.
I too try to save some each year, from the office. I leave them in the garden for the whole summer, and hope that they'll flower in the winter. I've had one for several years, beautiful foliage but no flower, and suddendly this year, it decided it was the time to flower. After that, it was summer and it went to the garden. I was sad to see it was dying and was going to throw it away, but then I saw that all the leaves had disappeared to give birth to orchid babies. Now I wonder what happens next...
After all, morning glory are much easier, you are right to love them :-)

Thanks for the visit :) My mum had some of these and has managed to keep them alive but when I took them in to look after during her holiday, they seemed to perk up a bit even more. So now I have 2 orchids to look after and no idea how to get them to bloom either - just keep my fingers crossed I guess :)
