Design Question?

In my front foyer I have a new mirrored chest.
Designers say not to place a mirror above it use a picture instead.
Here is the look with the picture and the mirror .
They are not hung yet just set on the chest.
My question is which look to go with?
Help me make up my mind , please.

Green Thumb Sunday

Orchid
The ICU was given a lovely orchid plant by a grateful family.
In the pot are 2 different orchids one a large pure white with a touch of yellow and the other smaller with pink rosy colour on white.
The poor thing was starting to suffer due to the poor light and over watering of some eager staff.
It was decided I should take it home and save it as my fellow workers know how much
I love gardening. It is such a beautiful plant I just could not turn down the offer.

I did not have the heart to tell the nurses I have one other orchid that I haven't killed but since its original flowering I have not been able to get it to re flower tho the foliage is bright green and very healthy looking.
I think I will have to do some research into the type and care of this beauty.

Oatmeal Banana Raisin Coconut Cookies/ Coventry Walk Cookies

I really call these Coventry Walk Cookies, as this recipe came from my Mom's friend at the quilting group Mom attends every Monday.
This recipe Mom's friend found at Allrecipes submitted by Madamerambo.
Here is the prep.

Here is the baked cookie
The recipe makes dozens of cookies and best of all lots of goodness in the cookie for children to enjoy.Changed it slightly using butter not margarine and increased the vanilla and spices. Decreased the baking time so they did not scorch.
Enjoy!
1 1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp.salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
3 cups rolled oats
2 ripe bananas sliced
1 1/2 cups raisins
1 cup flaked coconut
Preheat oven to 375.
Grease cookies sheets
In large bowl cream butter and sugars.
Beat in vanilla and egg.
Combine flour, soda, salt and spices.
Stir into creamed mixture.
Stir in oats, bananas, raisins and coconut , one at a time.
Drop by rounded spoonfuls 2 inches apart as these cookies spread. Bake 11 to 13 minutes tho my oven I baked mine for only 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute before removing to wire rack to cool. These cookies are soft and spread out. Layer wax paper between layers in your cookie tin.

Green Thumb Sunday

The Gardener's Morning
The robin's song at daybreak
Is a clarion call to me.Get up and get out in the garden,
For the morning hours flee.

I cannot resist the summons,
What earnest gardener could?
For the golden hours of morning
Get into the gardener's blood.
The magic spell is upon me,
I'm glad that I did not wait;
For life's at its best in the morning,
As you pass through the garden gate.

Green Thumb Sunday

With moving my gardening is limited to pots and house plants at the moment.
Because my daughter, Sherry, knew how much I would miss puttering with my flowers , this spring she gave me an herb pot.
The herb pot is a strawberry glazed pot holding 2 types of sage , 2 types of thyme, rosemary , and oregano. The herbs came from Freeman Herb Company.
Do check out their web site lots of info there, recipes, planting designs etc.
This assortment is flourishing , I have been able to use all of the herbs in my cooking over the summer. I plan to cut them back this fall , dry some for using and
hopefully I can hold the plants over the winter to make an herb garden in the spring using one of the plans from Freemans.

Green Thumb Sunday

I love my spider plant.
My sister gave me a tiny baby some years ago from a mother plant that makes the most trailers I have ever seen. Donna's plant is gigantic.
It has turned into one of the best house plants I have . Tough even through the trial of moving and adapting to brighter light.
It has persevered through lack of attention from time to time, extreme dryness when we have been away.. benign neglect.

Thank you Donna for sharing.
